Greetings CorvSport readers, and welcome back to CorvSport’s ZR1 recap, where we highlight some of the items you may have missed over the past week. It’s no surprise that this ground-breaking 1,064 horsepower beast has taken the Corvette community hostage and is the new darling in our world. As always, we’ll start with a quick overview of the amazing 2025 ZR1, just in case you missed any factoids from this spectacular creation.
Today, we are going to tickle all your senses! First, we’ll reveal some new photos of the 2025 ZR1 in the wild, which showcases some colors you may not have seen yet. Then, not to be outdone by the beautiful still shots, we have a video with some remarkable ZR1 fly-bys and hot laps–I’ve seen a handful of in-person clips, and these are some of the best I’ve watched to date! After that, let’s stimulate the imagination with a life-like rendering from CarmStyleDesign–they’ve done some remarkable “can’t believe it’s not real” renderings before, but this ZR1 creation is the best so far. We round out today’s Z-NEWS coverage with our extensive CorvSport C8 ZR1 archives in case you missed any coverage and need to brush up for Monday’s water cooler session. Let’s dive in!
1) 2025 Corvette ZR1 Overview
- Powertrain: A flat-plane crank (FPC) twin-turbocharged 5.5 liter LT7,
- Power: A whopping 1,064 HP with 828 lb-ft of torque! Record milestone numbers for the brand.
- Performance: “Significantly faster than 212 mph” and “under a 10-second quarter mile,”
- Pricing: Car and Driver reports a starting price in the range of $180,000 to $205,000,
- Transmission: A “strengthened” 8-speed TREMEC DCT (from Stingray & Z06),
- Dry Weights: 3,670 lbs (Coupe) and 3,758 lbs (Convertible)
- Availability: The 2025 model year is confirmed.
- Torque Monster: Nearly all its torque, 800 lb-ft, is available from 3,000 to 6,500 RPMs!
- The first turbocharged Corvette ever!
- The first factory Corvette to surpass 1,000 HP!
- The most powerful V8 ever produced in America by an auto manufacturer.
- No electric motors are on the front wheels; speculation is the hybrid will be reserved for the ZORA.
- There is an 8000 RPM redline (down 600 from the C8 Z06’s LT6 to accommodate the turbos).
- According to Tadge Juechter, the LT7 has numerous engineering upgrades, including thicker forged titanium rods, and there is no cylinder deactivation.
- The iconic Split Window design is back!
2) More 2025 ZR1 Colors In The Wild!
Just days ago, new 2025 ZR1 photos began emerging on various Facebook pages, and it was initially reported on one Corvette-dedicated page that these photos below were at Hennessey Performance. But, upon closer look, I noticed the Lingenfelter parking sign (over the white ZR1 in the first photo). After browsing my usual sources, I saw reports that this was an “undisclosed” location and that the gaggle of 2025 ZR1s was there for Tadge Juechter’s retirement party. These photos were originally spotted on the C8 Corvette ZR1 Owners Facebook page, but after some digging, they are those of Lance Miller with Carlisle Events.
I hope you enjoy these new pictures. A big thanks to Lance Miller for capturing more pictures of this spectacular piece of machinery in the wild! And bonus points if you can spot the ZR1 with curb rash.
3) More Raw In-Person 2025 ZR1 Footage You May Have Missed
Enthusiasts from around the globe are slurping up everything ZR1, and CorvSport is no different! When this video popped up in my feed the other day, I felt compelled to share it with you, our faithful readers, as most of the clips are fresh/never-seen in-person clips of the astounding new 2025 ZR1. I’ve seen a handful of in-person clips, and these are some of the best I’ve watched to date!
Notable Time Stamps with cliff notes (turn up the volume!):
- [0:45] Some revs and exhaust burble,
- [1:02] Cool ZR1 fly-bys (with in-car video) as the stage is set for the big reveal.
- [2:01] Fresh off some 200 mph hot laps, the ZR1 enters the stage!
- [2:08] More bonus hot laps and the audio is awesome.
- [2:55] GMAuthority is trackside for more fly-bys! These are the closest shots I’ve seen.
- [3:38] More close-up high-speed ZR1 fly-bys,
- [4:25] The two ZR1s crawl by the stage and give the crowd some playful revs!
4) CarmStyleDesign Ignites The Imagination With New 2025 ZR1 Rendering
As if this masterpiece weren’t remarkable enough in its true form, CarmStyleDesign has already cranked up its creative rendering machine and presented the Corvette community with this fresh concept. Here is how CarmStyleDesign has imagined its 2,000 HP Widebody ZR1, with the full video below. If you’ve never watched one of their videos before, you may be pleasantly surprised, as they are incredibly life-like, especially as this 2,000 HP concept drives and rumbles on to its reveal stage.
