You’ll Never Guess Who Outbid Everyone To Pay $3.7 Million For VIN 001 Of The 2025 Corvette ZR1

As the dust settles after Rick Hendrick battled to win another VIN 001 at Barrett-Jackson, CorvSport looks at his recent VIN 001 Corvette victories!

VIN 001 for the 2025 Corvette ZR1 fetches $3.7 million!

When I heard Craig Jackson recount on the block just how many charity cars Rick Hendrick has purchased over the years at Barrett-Jackson, I was taken aback. The man who is infamous for buying the VIN 001 Corvettes has purchased 38 charity cars, surpassing a whopping $28,000,000 for charity, while adding some beautiful Corvettes in his stable as well as a bonus–a big wonderful bonus. The $3,700,000 Rick paid at Scottsdale for the privilege to secure VIN 001 of the 2025 Corvette ZR1 barely edged out the $3.6 million he paid for VIN 001 of the 2023 Z06, and this time the benefitting charity is the American Red Cross. And as always with Rick, put all your chips on black because, undoubtedly, his C8 ZR1 will be black, just like every other VIN 001 win before it.

If you haven’t already, you’ve got to see this remarkable auction play out in real-time. We’ve got the ZR1 auction cued up, but if there is a glitch, VIN 001 crosses the block at 9:04:37.

Another First: Look Who Pays Over $1,000,000 For VIN 001 E-Ray

You may recognize his name as he’s done this more than a few times

We haven’t had any notable E-Ray news since we brought you the spectacular quarter-mile performance against some Italian rivals, where the E-Ray punched way above its weight. One interesting reminder about these VIN 001 auctions is that the shiny Corvette under the Barrett-Jackson lights isn’t what the buyer will receive, as it’s a preproduction model. In this case (and most), it still looks gorgeous. There is also a tax-deductible charity angle with the auction, (which likely drives up prices), and in the case of this E-Ray, the recipient for 100% of the sales price is the education non-profit DonorsChoose. If you’ve followed these VIN 001 auctions the buyer’s name will not surprise you, as once again notable Chevrolet dealer and Nascar team owner Rick Hendrick grabbed the first production E-Ray. Hendrick will take ownership of the game-changing all-wheel-drive hybrid, built to his specs, as soon as it rolls off the Bowling Green assembly line later this year. And if history repeats itself (see videos below), he’ll take delivery to some fanfare at the National Corvette Museum…” Continue Reading or Save For Later

First 2023 Corvette Z06 Sets New Record For Barrett-Jackson

A few days ago, the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 70th Anniversary Edition set a new record for a charity sale in Barrett-Jackson as it was sold for a whopping $3.6 million. It is $600,000 more than the previous record holder, which was the first retail 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The sale would benefit Operation Homefront as they will be receiving the full $3.6 million.

The 2023 Corvette Z06 has the highest horsepower naturally aspirated V-8 in any production car. Retired Corvette Racing legend Oliver Gavin drove the example onto the block at the annual auction, to the delight of the audiences in the room.

Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit which is focused on building strong, stable, and secure military families. Representatives from the noble organization were present at the auction to experience the exciting moment themselves. The winning bidder is the founder and CEO of Hendrick Companies, Rick Hendrick. The whole $3.6 million will be received by Operation Homefront…” Continue Reading or Save For Later

Barrett-Jackson Sells 2020 Mid-Engine Corvette VIN #001

If you’ve followed the Corvette brand for any length of time, you know that Chevrolet has traditionally auctioned off VIN No. 001 of each new Corvette model at the Barrett-Jackson Auction and donated the proceeds from that sale to an amazing charity.  On January 18, 2020, the all-new Mid-Engine Corvette shared in that tradition as VIN No. 001 crossed the block as Lot #3007 at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona.

As expected, the beautiful 2020 Mid-Engine Corvette sold for big money.  After bidding started at $250,000, the auction price of the first-ever Mid-Engine Corvette rocketed up to $1 million dollars, then $2 million dollars, before reaching the final bid price of $3,000,000 dollars!  Let that soak in folks….THREE MILLION DOLLARS!!

The winning bidder was none other than Rick Hendrick, owner of the American NASCAR racing team, Hendrick Motorsports, co-owner of JR Motorsports and founder of the Hendrick Automotive Group and Hendrick Marrow Program.  Hendrick sat above the majority of spectators in the auction arena, watching the events of the afternoon unfold from his skybox while surrounded by a team of family and friends, including former NASCAR driver and current NASCAR commentator, Jeff Gordon…” Continue Reading or Save For Later
