The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is holding a sweepstakes for another awesome Corvette C8 Z06!

Long, low, aggressive... the Z06 is Chevrolet's first true supercar, a velvet sledgehammer blow to those European supercars....

When the Corvette C8 Z06 went on sale, so many orders were received that those that placed their order in the last couple of months of 2023 are looking at getting their cars in 2025. In fact, you’d be lucky to get an order in at the moment, as GM is wanting to clear out some of the waitlist so that they can allocate enough of the production line to the insane new 1,000+ HP ZR1.

Can a drop-top supercar look any more beautiful than this? We think not!

Of those that ordered a Z06, there is a pretty shocking statistic in that the single rarest combination of order codes is Z07 Package and Convertible. Of all the Z06’s allocated for 2024, only 1% have left or will leave the factory with those two options. So, if you really want a Z06 convertible with the Z07 Package, in Red Mist Metallic over a tan interior, there is one way you can skip the line…

The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix

The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix (PVGP) has been running for just over four decades, and in that time has both provided some excellent racing as well as raising over $6.7 million for autism support and awareness. It also just so happens that their “home track” of the Pittsburgh International Race Complex was where the Corvette C8 Z06 announcement video for 2023 was produced, so it makes sense that their sweepstakes for 2024 would be a C8 Z06 convertible, with the Z07 package.

The PVGP event logo that also serves as the Association’s logo as well

Founded in 1983 and holding their first event that same year, the entire reason they had approval to put on the event hinged on the fact that the net proceeds of each annual event would be donated to autism charity. When that assurance was given, then-Mayor Richard Caliguiri gave his wholehearted approval for the races to go ahead. Growing rapidly in its first decade, these days you will find classic car parades, concours d’elegance, street course racing, and of course circuit racing on their home track. Seeing as many a Corvette can be labelled a vintage and/or a classic, you can put all your money on a bet that at least one will be at every single PVGP event.

2023 car and some of those the charities have helped
For 2023, the C8 Z06 was a 70th Anniversary edition. Surrounding it are many of those that the charities actively helped.

They are also superb ambassadors for autism support and awareness. Even in recent years, through which the term neurodivergent has been created and accepted, and autism itself is more thoroughly understood, there are still incorrect stereotypes and negative attitudes  towards those with intellectual or development issues. Through awareness campaigns and by providing in-home support and care for those with intellectual and developmental challenges, the PVGP has effected real change in the past few decades in the Western Pennsylvania region, and is often seen as a milestone of how such events to support intellectual and developmental charities are to be run.

Even standing still, it looks like it’s going like a bat out of hell.

As to the PVGP event itself, it is a 10 day celebration of race cars from all eras, as well as support categories from those same eras. Pre-war, post-war, prototypes, improved production, SCCA and IMSA, and so many more, there are cars from literally every racing category. There are car shows, parade laps, motorsports events of all classes, street races and circuit races, and then the actual Grand Prix at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex.

Yet, they still like to partner with dealerships and GM themselves, and as such, to support the fundraising for the 2024 event, they are offering the rarest of rare option combination on a 2024 Corvette Zo6 convertible.

When we mentioned above that this car was rare, we were not overstating the fact. According to a reputable source, of the total 2024 Z06’s built, starting from October 2023 to the present, only 17 (yes, seventeen) have been convertibles with the Z07 package. When you consider that there will only be 1,420 MY2024 Z06’s, that’s 1.19% of the total allocation.

It was taken to the International Race Complex for the photoshoot that the pictures in this section were taken from, and the only mileage on it is from the photoshoot, so it is quite literally brand new.

They swear they didn’t get it over 50 MPH, but it still looks awesome in motion.

Of course, with the Z07 Package applied, this specific Corvette automatically comes as the 3LZ version of the Z06, and has pretty much every piece of both aesthetic and functional carbon fiber added.

That wing isn’t just for showing off, nor is the diffuser just aesthetic. The C8 Z06 produces real downforce from its aerokit.

The rear wing, the front splitter, even the splash panels are all carbon fiber, with the aerodynamic pieces providing real downforce for the car to stick to the road or track. In terms of power, of course you get the 5.5L flat-plane LT6 V8 with 670 screaming American horses.

About The Charities Supported By These Sweepstakes

The PVGPA asked us to help spread awareness about the charities they support, and we were only too happy to oblige.

One of the two primary charities is the Merakey Allegheny Valley School in Western Pittsburgh. This school supports adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities through education and programs designed to help those individuals become more independent and fulfill their potential. Completely non-profit, the charity is supported through direct donations and partnerships. In 2021, funds raised by the PVGPA enabled the Pittsburgh main campus to install automatic doors for the gym facility. This allowed for those confined to a wheelchair to independently and easily access the fitness facilities inside the gym with the press of a button.

The PVGP has also worked with the Merakey Allegheny Valley School in community outreach, where their support and funds helped renovate a group home for those developmentally challenged to have easier access to the kitchen and dining areas, as well as technology to allow for the residents to take part in meal preparation. Both the fitness facility and the meal preparation projects are helping with those adults learning independence, personal confidence, and developing new skills.

The other primary charity for the sweepstakes is Autism Pittsburgh. While headquartered in Pittsburgh, the charity supports a full 14 Western Pennsylvania counties with information, advocacy, referral services, care programs, and subsidizing services that those affected with autism may need. They are also active in research and development, working with multiple healthcare professionals and organizations to create, develop, improve, and distribute programs and approaches in diagnosis, ongoing care, education, training, and social programs specifically designed for those with autism.

This care and support is crucial, as autism, in all of its various forms, affects more than 42,000 families in Western Pennsylvania, with around 18,000 of those in Pittsburgh and Allegheny alone. Many of these families are often strained or overwhelmed with the amount of care needed day-to-day, and rely on the kindness and support of charities such as Autism Pittsburgh, through their partners like the PVGPA.
