For many car enthusiasts, there’s a friendly rivalry between American and European car manufacturers, especially when it comes to supercars. Europeans have a long history of building these incredible machines, but America is fighting back with the new mid-engine Corvette Z06 with a Ferrari-inspired V8. Can it compete with the best from Europe, like the Maserati MC20?
Rory Reid from AutoTrader compares the Maserati MC20, a stunning Italian thoroughbred, and the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 with a track-focused Z07 package, a powerful American mid-engine monster, to see which one is the best.
The MC20’s V6 might seem like an unusual choice for a supercar, but it utilizes F1-inspired technology for efficient power generation. It delivers a 0-60 mph time of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 202 mph. The sound isn’t the most inspiring, but the performance is undeniable.
The Corvette Z06, however, boasts a thunderous V8 with 670 horsepower. While slightly heavier than the MC20, it achieves a 0-60 mph time of just 2.6 seconds thanks to its sticky tires. It may have fewer cylinders, but the power-to-weight ratio is comparable to the MC20. The sound, though? Pure muscle car magic.
