A Corvette Grand Sport Has Never Looked So Good
Okay, maybe it has always looked really good, but we can think of no better car to be the 2019 Indianapolis 500 Pace Car. The race is a legendary event, and it deserves an icon as its pace car, and that’s exactly what the 2019 Corvette C7 Grand Sport is. The race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will have the Grand Sport leading the way to the green flag, and we can’t wait to see it.
Chevrolet made the announcement that the car would be the Pace Car a couple of days ago. We reported on it. The images from the unveiling show a car in beautiful Long Beach Red Metallic Tintcoat. It gets Blade Silver racing stripes down the side of the car. The Indy 500 Pace Car logo was placed on the side of the vehicle.
We didn’t have a video of the unveiling action before but we do now. It is included below. The unveiling took place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and featured IndyCar Race Driver Tony Kanaan. Kanaan said that the car is the most important vehicle on the racetrack during race day.
The winner of the race gets to take home an Official Pace Car with them. At the unveiling, Kanaan seemed genuinely excited about the prospect of winning one. “I love the color,” he said. You can watch the video of the unveiling from local Indianapolis TV news station WISH-TV.
