For the 2017 model year, Chevrolet unveiled its newest iteration of the Corvette Grand Sport at the Geneva Auto Show. During its unveiling on March 1, 2016, it was announced that the all-new 2017 Corvette Grand Sport was the culmination of the car’s motorsports-bred pedigree.
It is equipped with a 6.2-liter V-8 engine that generates 460 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque, paired with a seven-speed manual transmission. Slightly wider than the standard Corvette, the 3,487-lb Grand Sport showcased impressive acceleration, achieving 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 181 mph, as confirmed by Chevrolet.
Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds conducted a test run with an Admiral Blue 2017 Corvette Grand Sport coupe to verify the car’s claimed top speed. The results indicated that the Grand Sport reached a remarkable speed of 172.89 mph.
