Check Out This Teaser Video of the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8.R Race Car
To say we’re excited about the future of the Corvette Racing program and the introduction of the C8.R race car is an understatement.
Corvsport.com – which is actually an abbreviation for the phrase “Corvette Motorsports” – was launched in 2010 to document and celebrate all things Corvette – including the Corvette Racing program’s involvement in both the American Le Mans Series (now known as the IMSA Weathertech Championship) and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Many of the concepts/content now found on this website was initially developed after attending the 2010 running of the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia. Since that first race, it has become a tradition that we return to Braselton each year for the running of this 10-hour race event, which is also the final race of the IMSA Championship season. We’ve been very fortunate to celebrate at this event as the Corvette Racing program – and its drivers – have won multiple driver, manufacturer and team championships over the past decade.
Next year, as Corvsport.com celebrates its 10th anniversary, we are excited to share our milestone with the introduction of the 2020 Chevrolet Mid-Engine Corvette C8.R Race Car. We can hardly wait to see how both the production C8 and the track-variant C8.R change the future for Corvette both on-and-off the racetrack!
I was at a Corvette Fest in Bayfield and not one several Corvette owners I talked to was even interested in the C8? I thought that was funny seeing as the owner are pretty much 50 and up. One complaint was no room for storage of a cooler, lawnchairs and a couple of carry ons. The other common beef was no Manual transmissions available. I laugh if this car is a flop? Only time will tell?
Hey Paul, interesting. It’s too bad none of the guys you talked to like the car much. There is room for a couple of carry-on bags. Luggage space doesn’t actually look that bad to me. I can get guys not liking the switch to mid-engine and the lack of a manual, though. It’ll be interesting to see what happens. It sounds like Chevy is going to sell a boatload of these new Vettes, but we’ll see when they start hitting dealers.
