Those Aren’t Hybrid Corvettes Chevy Says

A Hybrid Could Still Be Coming, but These Aren’t It

A while back we reported on the fact that what looked like a hybrid version of the C8 Corvette was spotted out testing. Sightings of these cars kept beeing spotted by numerous people and you can find YouTube videos and Instagram posts about them.

Well, according to Corvette Blogger, these are not hybrid Corvettes. Instead, they’re Corvettes with a special kind of diagnostic equipment on them. It turns out Chevrolet had to set Corvette Blogger and everyone else straight about what these things were. People thought the cars, like the one photographed below by @altc8corvette were hybrid cars.

According to Corvette Blogger, Chevy reached out and said that the cars are “early testing mules that have a battery connection outside the frunk which allows the engineers to run the electronics.” That actually makes a lot of sense.

It’s important to note that this doesn’t rule out the possibility of a hybrid Corvette, it just clarifies what some people thought was a hybrid is in fact not. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for any real hybrid C8 Corvettes.
