The C8 Corvette Z06 might be getting all the hype today thanks to its naturally-aspirated V8, delivering 670 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. However, back in 2000, the C5 Z06 made a significant impact with its 385 hp from a 5.7-liter V8 and a lightweight curb weight of just 3000 lbs.
RacerX has shared a video that takes a close look at a modified 2002 C5 Chevy Corvette Z06, housed at the Streetside Classics garage in Tampa. This is no ordinary C5 Z06 though as it features a Vortec supercharger and intercooler, along with a Borla exhaust system.
Thanks to the supercharger addition, this C5 Corvette Z06 now produces over 600 horsepower from its aluminum LS6 engine, granting it a significant power boost of more than 200 hp. While a standard C5 Z06 can achieve 0-60 mph in 4 seconds, the upgraded version is expected to approach the impressive 3.5-second acceleration of the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye.
