These Beasts Should Come Soon-ish
Even before the C8 Corvette Stingray made its debut, people were already talking about the C8 Corvette Z06. As impressive as the Corvette Stingray is, the Z06 should straight-up bury that machine both in a straight line and around a racetrack. Now we’re just starting to see the vehicle be out testing.
Evo reported on the fact that the C8 Corvette Z06 was spotted out testing. There were two different Corvettes spotted that are believed to be Z06 cars along with a regular Corvette Stingray in yellow and a Porsche 911 GT2 RS to be used as a benchmark.
The reason we can be pretty sure that the C8 Corvette Z06 is because the car looks different. You can see fatter tires, center-mounted exhausts, and some subtle differences in the front fascia and rear bumper.
The engine in the model is not yet known. However, Evo suggests it could be the same engine as is in the Corvette C8-R racing car. The publication also suggest it could be a different version of the C7’s supercharged LT1 V8. It is also suggested that it could be the GM Glackwing 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8 that was originally designed for a Cadillac.
Our thoughts are that it’s likely just an up-tuned and perhaps turbo or supercharged version of the current Stingray’s engine. Time will tell, though. One thing is for sure. The Z06’s engine will produce more horsepower and torque.
