The Bertone Mantide Is a C6 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and It’s Up for Auction

A one-off creation

Bertone Mantide

Bring Your Money to Scottsdale, Arizona, on January 15

If you want a weird and wild piece of Corvette history, then you might be interested in the Bertone Mantide. It’s a supercar built by the now-defunct design house of Stile Bertone. The company too the C6 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and reimagined it with funky Italian styling. It has appeared for sale before and now will be at an auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, on January 15, according to Motor Authority.

Like something straight from a science fiction movie, the Bertone Mantide actually looks a lot like many of the upcoming cars from manufacturers. Things are getting weird, and the Mantide fits right in. However, the 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 producing 638 horsepower and 604 pound-feet of torque isn’t futuristic. It’s just some good ole American-made horsepower.

It’s the blending of the Italian styling and the American V8 Corvette that makes this such an interesting car. The body of the car is all carbon fiber. the powertrain and chassis are unchanged from the Corvette ZR1. The carbon fiber body sheds 250 pounds from the vehicle.  The car was actually clocked doing 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 218 mph. If you want to own an interesting car, round up your dollars and head to Arizona.
