Anyone know the origin of the name for the color, Steel Cities Gray? I notice that a number of other colors in the early ’70s were named for races or racetracks. Could Steel Cities refer to the Pittsburgh Region of Sports Car Club of America, where a number of very successful Corvette racers (Don Yenko, Donna Mae Mims, Ed Lowther, etc.) belonged?
Clarification — The Pittsburgh Region (or chapter) of the SCCA is called Steel Cities Region. It has existed since the early 1950s.
