Promoted as “the most powerful Stingray Sports Car produced, ever,” the 2022 C8 Corvette continues the lineage that commenced in 2020 with the introduction of the mid-engine platform. The car lives up to its billing with a 495-horsepower, 470 lb./ft torque V8 engine coupled with an 8-speed automatic transaxle, resulting in impressive performance metrics: a 0-60 time of just 2.9 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 11.2 seconds, and a top track speed of 194 MPH!
For an additional cost of $6,345 over the base price of a C8 Corvette, the Z51 package incorporates key components, notably the performance exhaust, boosting the engine’s output to 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. It also includes an electronic limited-slip differential and an additional radiator for improved cooling. The suspension features manually adjustable threaded spring seats, and Brembo brakes enhance braking performance. These vehicles come equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, with a 19-inch diameter in the front and a 20-inch diameter in the rear.
A video from the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds YouTube channel showcases the top speed achievable by a standard C8 Corvette equipped with the Z51 Performance Package over a 2.3-mile run. Watch the video to discover the speeds achieved by the C8 Corvette during the test.
