This Sound Is Lovely
There are plenty of C8 Corvette videos floating around the Web right now. It seems Chevrolet is taking advantage of the nice spring weather and getting the camo-wrapped test cars out as often as possible. One of the favorite ones we’ve come across recently comes from the National Corvette Museum’s YouTube channel. It’s a short clip that really shows off the sound of the new C8 Corvette.
In the video below, you can hear the C8 Corvette’s V8 engine doing its thing. Then you hear our favorite part—a lightning quick gear change. It’s so fast, and that suggests to us that the C8 Corvette will have one of the best gearboxes out there. This should make it a true force to be reckoned with when it comes to driving fast.
There’s a lot of buzz around the new C8 Corvette. We’ve seen some purists of the brand denounce the C8 as “not a true Corvette.” However, when you hear this sound, it’s pretty clear the C8 is just a new chapter in the same story. The C8 Corvette is said to offer an uprated 6.2-liter V8 engine.
It’s the same engine as is in the C7 Corvette, but Chevrolet will reportedly increase its output to about 500 hp. Higher trim levels could have other engines rated for 1,000 hp, or so the rumors say. The engine note on the car in the video above is a little different from the C7. With that said, we’re pretty pleased with the sound, at least from what we can hear from this short video.
