The seventh generation Corvette marked a significant era for America’s Sports Car. Not only was it the final generation to feature the front engine, rear-wheel drive layout that defined the car, but it also introduced various special edition models. Among these, two standout options were the Grand Sport and the Z06.
The C7 Corvette Grand Sport has been dubbed by some as a “fake” Z06. The Grand Sport shares the same GM 6.2L V8 LT1 engine as the base-model Stingray, delivering 460 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. Although it doesn’t share the same engine as the C7 Z06, it does sport Z06-style body and aerodynamic components, featuring wider hips and numerous additional vents.
This brings us to a crucial question – is the Corvette Grand Sport truly a superior choice to the Z06? This is what Raiti’s Rides on YouTube will answer for us as he explores this discontinued model with a unique blend of Z06 features at a more affordable price.
