After taking top honors at the 2015 Daytona Rolex 24 and Sebring 12 Hours, Chevrolet celebrated Corvette Racing’s success with the launch of the 2016 Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition. Interestingly, this special edition was introduced just before Corvette Racing triumphed in the GTE-Pro class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June 2015.
Limited to just 500 units, each C7.R Edition came with the full Z06 package, including a 650-horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter V8 and performance upgrades from the Z07 package—enhanced brakes, suspension, aerodynamics, and tires. It also featured a distinctive appearance with Corvette Racing Yellow Tintcoat paint, unique graphics, black wheels with yellow accents, and visible carbon fiber elements. Inside, it offered a Jet Black leather interior with suede microfiber and yellow stitching, carbon fiber trim, and special Corvette Racing details.
One example, now listed on Bring A Trailer, received further upgrades by Hennessey Performance with their HPE800 package. Modifications include high-flow heads, a custom camshaft, engine software, and improved cooling components. This 3LZ-trim C7.R Edition, with just 1,450 miles, features a 7-speed manual, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, performance data recorder, Z07 suspension, and Competition Sport seats.
