Up for auction on Bring A Trailer is a stunning 1966 Chevrolet Corvette convertible, boasting an impressive list of accolades including Bloomington Gold certification, NCRS Top Flight, Chevy/Vettefest Nationals Gold Spinner, and Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals Concours Gold awards. Originally delivered to Rapp Chevrolet in Marion, South Dakota, this classic beauty was acquired by its current owner in October 2004. Subsequently, it underwent a meticulous refurbishment by Cary Kuczkowski of D&M Corvette in Downers Grove, Illinois.
The fiberglass body of the Corvette was refinished in its original Rally Red color and adorned with a replacement beige soft top. Chrome accents grace the driver-side mirror, light surrounds, and split bumpers, while notable features include concealed headlights, fender vents, 427 badging, and dual exhaust outlets that elegantly exit through the rear fascia. Completing the picture are 15″ steel wheels with chrome covers and faux knockoff spinners, wrapped in Goodyear Power Cushion thin gold-line tires. Braking duties are handled by power-assisted discs at all four corners.
Inside the cabin, you’ll find bucket seats that have been beautifully reupholstered in black vinyl, complemented by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and trim. The interior is equipped with noteworthy features such as an analog clock, retractable lap belts, and a Delco push-button AM/FM radio. A woodgrain steering wheel frames the instrument cluster, which consists of a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an ammeter, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The odometer currently reads 24,000 miles, although the true mileage is unknown.
Under the hood resides the legendary 427ci L72 V8 engine, factory rated at a potent 425 horsepower. This powerplant showcases a single Holley carburetor, an aluminum intake manifold, and solid lifters. The engine’s output is transferred to the rear wheels via a close-ratio Muncie M21 four-speed manual gearbox.
This exceptional C2 Corvette is now being offered on dealer consignment and comes accompanied by a comprehensive package of documentation. Included are an NCRS Shipping Data Report, the various awards, copies of the window sticker, sales invoice, and Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin, as well as a collection of refurbishment photos, additional literature, and a clean California title.
