A gorgeous, first generation, fully restored, multi-awarded 1962 Chevrolet Corvette (C1) is currently on offer at Collecting Cars.
The Corvette is true to its factory specification with a stunning Almond Beige finish matched with bright red leather interior. Other interior features include metal switchgear for the heating and ventilation controls, period style Wonder Bar radio, and manual winding windows. All the switchgear and controls are working and there are no electrical or mechanical faults found.
The attention to detail that was given on the example during restoration is superb as they meticulously ensured that everything is restored, up to the period correct seat belts. The red leather trim is in great condition and there are just a few very minimal splits on the driver’s seat out panel piping.
Under the hood of this beautiful Corvette is a number-matching 327ci (5.4-liter) small block V8 engine with four-barrel carburetor matched to a four-speed manual transmission that drives the rear wheels. The odometer shows a 27,000 mileage, and the Corvette is offered after a 10-year ownership where it was well maintained.
After the show-quality, body-off restoration, the example has been the recipient of multiple awards including a Bloomington Gold Certified status for this stunning Corvette. In 2004, the National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS) in Florida judged the example and it was given an impressive 95.5 score and it took home the Regional Top Flight Award.
In 2007, it was given the Chevy/Vettefest Nationals ‘Gold Spinner’ Award and at the same time, it also got the prestigious ‘Triple Crown’ award as it was able to nab the two prior awards as well.
There is no reported prior body damage and after the refurbishment, the panels have been kept in superb condition. The example has been regularly maintained throughout the consigner’s ownership with the last recorded maintenance done in 2020 for an engine oil change done by European Automotive in Oakville, Ontario. It was also given a new battery at the time.
Numerous documentations on the example will come with the sale along with an owner’s guide and a 1962 brochure. The various awards received by this gorgeous Corvette after restoration will come with the sale as well.
As of writing, the 1962 Chevrolet Corvette (C1) has a bid of C$44,694 with the bidding ending on January 10, 2022.
