Flared 1966 Chevrolet Corvette 427

A Widebody C2

1966 Corvette 427

Check Out This Interesting Gem

Widebody Corvettes are nothing new, but this particular 1966 Chevrolet Corvette is a truly interesting find. The car is a 1966 Corvette 427. It’s a 4-speed car and had widened fender flares installed in the 1970s. As you can see, this car is far from show room ready, but it’s a true barn find.

The car was posted to eBay, but it has already sold as of yesterday. The final bid was $26,751. The body was removed and placed on a dolly. The frame has been powder-coated, and the front suspension and steering box were rebuilt. There are plenty of parts that went with the sale. A very important part of the sale was the numbers-matching engine. However, it is in need of some work.

The Corvette 427 was a fairly rare car. Chevy only made 9,958 coupes in 1966. The 427 engine was offered for the first time in 1966, which makes this a truly special car. According to Hemmings, a similar car in excellent condition with low miles sold for $675,000 at auction recently. The NADA suggested price for the Corvette 427 is just under $170,000.

Needless to say, whoever managed to get this car for a mere $26,751 has a real gem here. The car will need a full restoration, but once done, it’s going to be a heck of a valuable Vette.
