As customer E-Rays begin to trickle out of Bowling Green and into dealerships and customers’ hands, a used car dealership in Michigan is attempting a herculean flip, one more ambitious than I ever recall seeing with the red-hot 2023 Z06. Over the weekend, this $389,995 E-Ray actually popped up first at a dealer-only auction site at the same price as their retail price (more on that later). I thought that was weird, considering the chance of a dealer paying this enormous markup over MSRP was slim to none, and thinking a dealer would pay the same as your retail price was simply ridiculous.
Just how much is the markup?
$242,310!
With a base price of $122,850, she’s loaded up at $147,685! The cool Z06-like options had a few on social media claiming it wasn’t even an E-Ray.
The Walled Lake, Michigan, dealer DM Motors has no worries about keeping this flip fresh. With 354 miles, somebody at the dealership has been enjoying this E-Ray!
Finally, a discount for dealers!
The original listing on the dealer-only auction site had the buy-it-now at $389,000.
And the new “discounted” dealer price. If you are a dealer, you can now buy it “wholesale” for just $350,000. Hurry, act now before it’s gone!!!

Social Media Sentiment
Technically, this used car dealership is attempting the second flip, as the first was when Feldman Chevrolet of Novi (out of Novi, Michigan) sold it to DM Motors. This scenario alone begs more analysis and questions, like was this a custom ordered E-Ray, did the customer back out, why did Feldman decide to sell to a used car dealer, and how much did they charge DM Motors?
So many questions, so little time. So, how close do you think DM Motors will get to their asking price? Do you see any long-term consequences to the publicity they are receiving around the large (and vocal) Corvette community?
