One of the more interesting dynamics I’ve noticed about the eighth-generation Corvette is that there tend to be a lot of “garage queens” out there. Often, when I’m working on our exclusive wholesale market reports, I see many early C8s that haven’t even crossed over to five digits yet. For instance, in our dedicated C8 Stingray report in early January, only one of the C8s we featured had over 10,000 miles, with the majority under 5,000 miles. And those low miles are not an anomaly, as I see it report after report. Folks just don’t seem to be putting the miles on their C8s. [Author’s Note: This article is FREE and not behind a paywall. I’m not one to brag, but when steamrolling through brand-new Corvettes in my 30s, I was out of the 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty in the first 18 months. I also should say this feature is not a knock to the enthusiasts who don’t put a lot of miles on their Corvettes and that you are not thoroughly enjoying it if she has lower miles.
Here’s an interesting analysis before we get to our featured high-mileage Corvettes. For this exercise, I chose only the 2020 models.
- Autotrader: Total 2020s available=349, Number of 2020s under 15,000 miles=216, Percentage on the market under 15k miles=62%
- Cars.com: Total 2020s available=262, Number of 2020s under 10,000 miles=99, Percentage on the market under 10k miles=38%
- CarGurus: Total 2020s available=330, Number of 2020s under 10,000 miles=126, Percentage on the market under 10k miles=38%
