We Know the Hybrid Is Coming

There’s a rumor going around that a C8 Corvette model called the E-Ray Hybrid could replace the Grand Sport’s spot in the Corvette lineup.

The rumor originated from Muscle Cars and Trucks. While the next model to roll out will likely be the Z06, there’s always the question of when the Grand Sport and other models will come out, if they even will.

According to the publication, the Grand Sport moniker may be going away entirely. In its place will be the name E-Ray. According to the publication’s sources, there are no Grand Sport models being tested, but there are E-Ray models being tested, and this could mean the E-Ray will come fairly soon.

The car will feature all-wheel-drive, it and will incorporate electric motors in place of the current frunk to send power to the front wheels. This would set it apart from the other Corvette models that are in the works.

What’s interesting is that there have been previous reports of a 500 hp or 600 hp Grand Sport in the works. Those reports have not been confirmed, and that could mean that the supposed name for those models was not yet disclosed and this new E-Ray was actually the car discussed.

Then there’s the possibility that Muscle Cars and Trucks simply has this one wrong. However, the publication has been right about other rumors in the past, so there may be some validity to this rumor. Time will tell.
