This marked the 15th occasion the Corvette had been selected as the official pace car, a tradition that began in 1978. For the 2018 event, Chevrolet created a special 2019 Corvette ZR1 specifically designed to fulfill this role.
This specific 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Coupe is a Pace Car Edition authorized by Indy 500 officials. It is one of only 39 ZR1 Corvettes produced in Admiral Blue for the 2019 model year.
