In 2012, the 2013 Corvette ZR1 was announced as the official pace car for the Indy 500 event, making it the 11th Corvette model to serve as the official pace car for prestigious racing event, marking a fitting farewell for the last-production-year C6 variant.
The Indy pace car featured a 60th-anniversary trim package, featuring Arctic White paint with silver stripes and a blue interior complemented by suede leather upholstery. Minimal alterations were made for its pace car duties, including the addition of a light bar on the roof, incorporation of racing-safety equipment, and the inclusion of race logos.
Under the hood, the Corvette ZR1 boasted a supercharged 6.2-liter V8, delivering an impressive 638 hp and accelerating from 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. The utilization of carbon fiber for the bodywork contributed to a reduced curb weight of 3,353 pounds, enhancing the ZR1’s overall performance.
