The Corvette Daytona was an officially sanctioned race car created to compete in the now-defunct Rolex Race Car Series during the 2012 season, and later modified for the IMSA Tudor SportsCar Championship Series.
It raced in this series from 2013 to 2015. Although it carries the Corvette name, the elongated design isn’t based on any specific production model, but it features some elements reminiscent of the C7, including the grille, headlights, and taillights.
Powered by a naturally aspirated, Chevy LS9-based 5.5-liter V8 engine, each prototype delivers around 600 horsepower through a six-speed sequential gearbox. This setup allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just three seconds and reach a top speed of 200 mph.
This 2013 Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype, driven by Max “the Axe” Angelelli and Jordan Taylor, clinched the prototype class title in the 2013 Grand American Road Racing Association series.
