Corvette Of The Day: 2013 Chevrolet Corvette 427 Convertible

For the departure of the C6 generation in 2013, Chevrolet decided to take things a step further and build a truly remarkable special-edition as a send-off to their most-respected and most-celebrated Corvette to date – the Corvette 427 Convertible.

The 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible served double-duty as a commemorative edition model. While it marked the departure of the sixth-generation Corvette, it also commemorated the sixtieth-anniversary of the Corvette brand, first introduced in 1953 with Harley Earl’s Stovebolt-Six, two-seat cabriolet.

This model became the most powerful convertible from the C6 generation, offering enthusiasts the closest experience to a drop-top version of the revered Z06. Under the hood, it featured the Z06’s potent 427 CI LS7 V-8 engine, delivering an impressive 505 HP and 470 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

At the time, the 427 was the most powerful engine ever placed in a convertible version of America’s Sports Car. With a top speed exceeding 190 MPH, it also held the title of the fastest open-air vehicle ever produced by Chevrolet.
