In 2009, Chevrolet proudly commemorated its remarkable achievements in GT1 racing with the GT1 Championship Special Edition Corvette. And there was certainly plenty to celebrate, as Chevrolet had clinched the prestigious American Le Mans Series GT1 Manufacturers Championship for an impressive eight consecutive years, secured the 24 Hours of Le Mans GT1 Championship five times, and claimed over 70 victories in the American Le Mans Series.
This particular Corvette is a rarity among the 125 Championship Edition Corvettes produced, being one of only 55 Z06 examples. The Special Edition, identified by the RPO GT1 option, boasted a range of distinctive cosmetic enhancements.
These included C6.R livery-inspired graphics, a ZR1-style full-width spoiler, chrome wheels, a bespoke ebony leather interior adorned with yellow stitching, GT1 embroidery on the seats, center console armrest, and instrument panel, a special engine cover, and two unique color choices: Velocity Yellow (45U) and Black (41U). Notably, this specific vehicle is one of just 38 Z06s ever finished in the striking Velocity Yellow hue.
