In 2009, Chevrolet celebrated its impressive achievements in GT1 racing with the release of the GT1 Championship Special Edition Corvette. Chevrolet had secured the American Le Mans Series GT1 Manufacturers Championship for eight consecutive years, claimed the 24 Hours of Le Mans GT1 title five times, and achieved over 70 victories in the American Le Mans Series.
The Special Edition featured several distinctive cosmetic upgrades, including graphics inspired by the C6.R livery, a ZR1-style full-width spoiler, chrome wheels, a custom ebony leather interior with yellow stitching, GT1 embroidery on the seats, center console armrest, and instrument panel, a special engine cover, and two exclusive color options—Velocity Yellow and Black.
