The 2007 Z06 marks the return of the 427-powered Corvette since 1974. Packing 505 horsepower, it represents a significant leap in Corvette performance. While it retains the unmistakable Corvette styling, the use of high-impact plastic and carbon fiber brings a modern touch.
Under the hood, a fuel-injected small-block V-8 powers the car, enhanced with features like computer controls and dry sump oiling, setting it apart from its 1963 counterpart. The frame, made of hydro-formed aluminum, incorporates magnesium components for the roll cage and engine cradle, while the all-independent suspension is crafted from aluminum as well. The braking system, with a total of 20 pistons, provides impressive stopping power, bringing the car to a halt from 60 MPH in just 113 feet.
Inside, the Ebony interior boasts a leather-wrapped steering wheel, bolstered bucket seats, and various modern conveniences such as power windows, locks, and dual-zone air conditioning. The 2LZ Equipment Group further enhances the experience with additional features like a power telescopic steering column, heated seats, and an AM/FM 6-CD stereo system with Bose speakers and XM satellite radio capability, among others.
