With the C5 generation having re-established Corvette as the king of American performance cars, Chevrolet celebrated Corvette’s 50th anniversary with a special edition in 2003, and it did not disappoint.
Every 2003 Corvette featured 50th-anniversary badging on the hood and rear deck, and the logo appeared on printed materials and, except for Z06 models, on the tach and speedometer displays. Standard features for 2003 included fog lamps, power-operated leather seats, power windows, locks and mirrors, power steering and brakes, and dual-zone air conditioning.
The “50th Anniversary Special Edition” Corvette package was one of the most comprehensive ever offered for $5,000. It included Anniversary Red Xyrallic Crystal paint, special front-fender badges, Champagne-painted aluminum wheels, and a unique Shale interior, the first C5 interior without a black dash panel.
The sporty interior featured embroidered logos on the headrests and floor mats, leather-trimmed armrests, and a Shale top on convertibles. Additional features included head-up display, power tilt-telescopic steering, electrochromic mirrors, memory package, twilight-sentinel headlights, and Magnetic Selective Ride Control.
