In Hoonigan’s latest episode of ‘This vs That,’ we get to see the top-of-the-line C8 Corvette Z06 go against a Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk2 in a series of drag races.
Now, you might think that the Volkswagen here is at a big disadvantage since the Golf GTI is really not that fast, especially in stock form. But the Mk2 Golf GTI featured in this video is far from being stock though. It is a heavily modified VW equipped with a VR6 engine and an all-wheel drivetrain and is capable of putting down an impressive 650 horsepower on the dyno.
That’s 20 horsepower short of the C8-generation Corvette Z06 as it boasts 670 horsepower coming from its 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V8 engine that drives the rear wheels. However, the Z06 has a major disadvantage over the Golf GTI, as it is heavier by 850 pounds that could potentially have a huge impact in the race.
