C8 Corvette Z06 Drag Races A Lotus Emira

Throttle House hosts a drag race and track comparison between the Lotus Emira and Corvette Z06

In a recent Throttle House video, two cars that previously won their “Car of the Year” title were compared: the Lotus Emira and the Corvette Z06, to determine which would come out on top if they had competed in the same year.

The 2023 C8 Z06 boasts the new LT6 all-aluminum V-8 engine, a 5.5L DOHC marvel inspired by the championship-winning C8.R race car. This engine is the largest and most powerful naturally aspirated V-8 ever, delivering 670 HP at 8,400 RPM and 460 lb-ft of torque at 6,300 RPM.

With a design focused on track performance, the Z06 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds and achieve 1.22g in lateral acceleration, managed by standard 6-piston front and 4-piston rear disc brakes.

In contrast, the Lotus Emira is a true sports car that continues the legacy of previous Lotus models. It may not match the C8 Z06 in power, with its 3.5-liter supercharged V6 from Toyota producing around 400 horsepower, but it excels in handling and driving dynamics. The Emira’s lightweight build and finely tuned chassis enhance its agility and performance on both road and track.
