In a video by the Hoonigan YouTube channel, we got to see a matchup that serves as a great demonstration of what the C8 Corvette Stingray can do in terms of performance. Hoonigan calls it the “best, cheapest supercar you can buy,” with a starting price of approximately $60,000.
The mid-engine Vette boasts a 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine, producing 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque with the factory performance exhaust. Power is transmitted through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic to the rear wheels, and it weighs 3,650 pounds.
The competition in the video is a 2020 Sierra Alpha race car, resembling a crosskart, but heavily upgraded with larger aero, bigger tires, and a turbocharged 1300cc Suzuki Hayabusa engine generating 400 horsepower, all in a lightweight 1,350-pound package.
Though down by about 95 horsepower, the Sierra Alpha is still a vary capable contender and it should be exciting to see how it performs against the C8 Corvette Stingray in a drag race.
