Many enthusiasts vividly remember how polarizing the reaction was when GM eliminated the round taillights on the C7. Much like when GM canned the pop-up headlights, we traditionalists were averse to change (even when the design element has been used in the past, like the exposed headlights dating back to 1962 and earlier). The “Camaro Effect” added to the disdain with the C6 to C7 transition, as many felt the new design simply copied the rear light design from the sixth generation Camaro. It’s been a decade since GM shook up the Corvette world with this rear-end evolution, then ramped up the controversy with even more polarizing design elements on the C8.
Has anything changed?

Recently, a popular Corvette-dedicated Facebook page member broached this very subject. Of course, these types of polls aren’t scientific and tend to lend themselves to ownership bias. Still, these results came from the Custom Corvettes page versus the typical generation-specific page, giving the results a bit more credibility.
