The Fast Lane Car recently brought together three iconic sports cars, the Chevrolet Corvette C5, Corvette C6 and a 2014 Ford Mustang GT, for an exciting V8 muscle drag race. Surprisingly, despite the Mustang’s higher power with its 420-hp 5.0-liter V8 engine, victory isn’t guaranteed, as big power doesn’t always guarantee an easy win.
The 2014 Ford Mustang GT boasts a 420-hp 5.0-liter V8 engine with 390 lb-ft of torque, while the 1999 C5 Corvette packs a 345-hp 5.7-liter LS1 V8 with 350 lb-ft of torque. Taking it up a notch, the C6 Corvette with the Z51 package houses an LS2 V8, generating 400 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque.
Both Corvettes are approximately 400 lbs lighter than the Mustang, potentially bringing the C6 closer to the Mustang’s performance. All three can be found in classifieds for under $25,000, making this drag race even more enticing.
