Behind The Wheel Of A 2007 Corvette Z06

The Z06 arrived for the 2006 model year as a homologation vehicle in the third quarter of 2005 and is the lightest of all Corvette models. The Z06 was equipped with the largest-displacement small-block engine ever produced, a new 7,011 cc (7.0 L; 427.8 cu in) V8 engine codenamed the LS7. The engine has a power output of 505 hp and 470 lb⋅ft.

As anticipated, the Z06 was packed with race-inspired features like dry-sump lubrication, titanium connecting rods, a lightweight aluminum frame, composite floors, and a magnesium engine cradle. Its performance was electrifying, and the Z06 fittingly served as the pace car at both the 2006 NASCAR Daytona 500 and the Indianapolis 500.

The C6 Z06 represented Corvette’s peak performance at the time. Far advanced from the 1963 original, the C6 Z06 retained Corvette styling, crafted with high-impact plastic and carbon fiber for a modern twist.

If you’re a big fan of C6 Corvettes, perhaps this video from Tedward on YouTube will help you remember just how fantastic these cars were, especially the Z06 model. So, be sure to watch the video and enjoy!
