A C7 Corvette Z06 and an Audi RS3 met for a drag race at Island Dragway in Great Meadows, New Jersey. The quarter-mile drag race was filmed by ImportRace on YouTube.
The Audi RS3 is powered by a 2.5L turbocharged inline-5 engine producing 400 horsepower at 5,850-7,000 rpm and 354 lb-ft of torque at 1,950-5,850 rpm. It features Quattro all-wheel drive and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (S-Tronic) transmission. The RS3 accelerates from 0-60 mph in approximately 3.5 seconds and weighs around 3,600 lbs. Its top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph, but with the Dynamic package, it can reach 174 mph.
The Chevrolet Corvette C7 Z06 boasts a 6.2L supercharged V8 (LT4) engine that delivers 650 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 650 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 rpm. It utilizes a rear-wheel-drive setup and is available with either a 7-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Z06 sprints from 0-60 mph in approximately 2.95 seconds with the automatic and 3.2 seconds with the manual. Weighing around 3,500 lbs for the manual and 3,600 lbs for the automatic, the Z06 has a top speed exceeding 200 mph.
On paper, the Corvette Z06 has the advantage when it comes to power. All that power was useless, though, as the American sports car struggled with traction off the line. The Audi RS3 crossed the finish line first in 12.10 seconds at 112.57 mph, while the Corvette C7 Z06 completed the run in 12.48 seconds at 122.47 mph.
