Ares S1 Project Spyder

Ares Takes the C8 Corvette and Transforms It

If the C8 Corvette is a car you love but you want to spend way more money on an Italian exotic, then you might be interested in the Ares S1 Project Spyder. The company recently revealed this new open-top version of the car, according to Motor Authority.

Ares revealed the coupe version of the S1 Project back in September, but now it has this new version that lacks a roof and windshield. The speedster takes the Corvette’s platform and uses it to create something to compete with the Aston Martin V12 Speedster and the McLaren Elva.

While there is no windscreen, the company did add wind deflectors that will protect the driver and passengers from the majority of the wind. The wind is then directed into the rear fender vents.

The removal of the windscreen and roof allow Ares to do some interesting things with the bodywork of the car. The Spyder is sleeker and smoother. The front blends almost seamlessly with the rear of the car in a very fluid design.

Mechanically, nothing is different from the Corvette. The Ares S1 Project Spyder utilizes the same powertrain. That means it has a 6.2-liter V8. However, Ares did an ECU tune to the engine and it now makes 715 hp and 715 lb-ft of torque. The transmission is the same 8-speed dual-clutch transmission in the C8 Corvette. This car will do 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds.

Ares will make just 24 examples of the S1 Project Spyder. The price has not yet been announced, but the couple starts at 500,000 euros. It will likely be somewhere around that.
