There are the obvious things that make the Corvette so awesome and earned it the title of America’s Sports Car: the bang for the buck, the rock-solid tried-and-true pushrod V8s, and that feeling these two-seat rockets elicit when driving the iconic Corvette, to name just a few. But, something that is often overlooked is the potential of the Corvette to bring families together and strengthen their bonds.
I was reminded of this dynamic recently when I interviewed Chris Sherman, a long-standing builder who turned a passion into a purpose. Chris was “born into a love affair” and was still just days old when he took his first impressionable trip home from the hospital in his dad’s ’57 ‘Vette. These stories, while not uncommon, are sometimes forgotten, but the National Corvette Museum (NCM) is tapping into the family reservoir with a new enhancement of their museum delivery option (known as R8C). First, let’s revisit a compelling piece from our own Scott Kolecki on what the R8C option code offers, and then we’ll dive into the new Family Delivery Program.
“While the experience of climbing into a Corvette and driving it off of a dealer lot is still an incredibly special moment, Chevrolet, in partnering with the National Corvette Museum, has long offered an option that makes the experience almost as magical as purchasing a Corvette can – and SHOULD – be.
It is known as the ‘R8C Corvette Museum Delivery Experience.’ When purchasing a new Corvette, selecting RPO (Regular Production Option) ‘R8C’, GM provides consumers the opportunity to take delivery of their brand-new Corvette straight from the factory (well, almost.) For an additional $995 (added to the purchase price of a new Corvette when ordered/purchased), the future owner will take possession of their new Corvette as part of a special day-long event hosted at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The NCM resides across the street from GM’s Corvette Assembly Plant and provides customers with an entirely unique experience when picking up their car…” Continue Reading
The Ed & Shari Glazer Family Delivery Program
In a recent Facebook post, the National Corvette Museum announced the Ed & Shari Glazer Family Delivery Program and highlighted one special family who gathered together to participate. Here is the full post:
“The Ed & Shari Glazer Family Delivery Program offers a unique opportunity to share the excitement of Corvette ownership with the next generation. As an enhancement to our R8C Museum Delivery, this complimentary program includes special touches like a personalized reader board, a $50 Corvette Store gift card, a Corvette Simulator experience, and even a family scavenger hunt through the National Corvette Museum. From a free kid’s meal at the Stingray Grill to a keepsake family photo, it’s an experience that creates lasting memories for all ages.”
That family scavenger hunt through the museum sounds like a blast! Do any upcoming C8 purchasers want to adopt me?!? I digress. Let’s meet the family who the NCM featured in their recent piece.
There were numerous encouraging social media posts, but this one from Ryan really hit the sentiment of this new family affair.

Who Are The Glazers?
The story of the Glazers epitomizes how the Corvette can be a catalyst for special family bonds and memories. The trip Ed took to the Corvette dealership with his father is still affecting families positively to this day–now that is power. Here is an excerpt from the NCM’s website:
“One of Ed Glazer’s fondest childhood memories is accompanying his father Malcolm to pick up their first Corvette, a silver C4. Up until 1983, Malcolm had always purchased Cadillacs. However, in 1983, Malcolm, always keen on teaching his sons valuable business lessons, challenged 13-year-old Ed. He told him that if he could negotiate a good deal all by himself with local Chevy dealers to trade in his Cadillac Seville for a new C4 Corvette, he would buy one.
Living in Rochester, NY, Ed called every dealer in Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse to find the best deal for his father. He finally succeeded at a dealership in Syracuse, convincing the salesman to drive 90 miles to inspect the Cadillac and finalize the trade. When the salesman arrived, he asked to meet the “Mr. Glazer” he had spoken to on the phone, not realizing he had been dealing with a 13-year-old. A few days later, Ed and his dad drove together to pick up their first new Corvette. This unforgettable father-son experience sparked Ed’s lifelong love for the Corvette…” Continue Reading And Find Out More About The Family Delivery Program
