For the fifteenth time since its introduction in 1953, the Chevy Corvette once more served as the official pace car of the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500. However, this was the first time that the Corvette leading the race has more horsepower than the race cars do. The 755hp Corvette’s engine actually out performs the engines used in the IndyCar racers.
