High-Speed Fun
Hennessey Performance recently put up the 2019 Corvette ZR1 and the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 against one another in what’s called baseline testing. This means the cars are pitted against one another in a rolling race.
The Corvette ZR1 is actually in stock form here, according to Corvette Blogger. Soon, Hennessey will take the car and add its 1,000 hp package to it, but at the moment it makes 755 hp from its supercharged LT5 V8.
The Ford GT500 is also a heck of a car and a formidable opponent. The muscle car has a supercharged V8 engine that makes 760 hp, so the cars are pretty well-matched. This one is also in line to have a 1,000 hp upgrade but that hasn’t happened just yet.
Hennessey does three races here. All of them at a rolling start. I’m not going to spoil the fun for you, but I will say this video is worth watching.
Once the cars go through their 1,000 hp upgrades, I hope that Hennessey will consider doing another set of racing to see just how the performance of these two machines has changed. Until then, we get to be happy with these two in their current form.
