Getting Its Groove Back
With the COVID-19 pandemic still an issue in many areas of the world, it’s a wonder that the Bowling Green Assembly plant in Kentucky is able to keep churning out C8 Corvette’s. Recently, according to MidEngineCorvetteForum.com, the plant managed to make the 4,000th C8 since May 26th.
This puts the entire total of C8 Corvettes that have been made so far this year at 6,750. That number is roughly a third of all of the Corvettes that are expected to be made in 2020. So, in short, things are moving right along. However, that’s not to say there won’t be challenges moving forward. Convertible production recently started and that will come with its own challenges.
The first Corvette Convertible is expected to be finished today, according to Corvette Blogger. This will mark another milestone for the GM team and the team in Bowling Green. In the next couple of days, we should see the numbers jump into the 7,000s for the regular coupe.
An additional shift has been rumored for some time, and there’s a chance that it could start in the next couple of weeks, but there’s no news from GM or the facility in Bowling Green at this time. Still, even if the additional shift doesn’t startup, it is great to see things moving in the right direction.
