The C8 Corvette Takes on Some Luxury American Muscle
The Chevrolet Corvette has some serious straight-line speed, but with just 495 hp with the Z51 Performance Package, you might expect it to lose out to a 640 hp Cadillac sports sedan in a drag race. The guys at the YouTube channel Fasterproms decided to set up the drag race to see which one will actually win in a straight-line contest.
We won’t spoil the results, but we will say that the Corvette manages to get the power down to the pavement a little better than the Cadillac CTS-V. It’s also worth noting that the track that they’re racing on is fairly dirty and dusty. This makes gaining traction even tougher. The Cadillac has the most trouble with this, and the C8 Corvette seems to get its tires to grab pretty well.
In short, both cars are impressive, but the Corvette is the more impressive machine here. It does so much with quite a bit less power. Seeing as how the top trim levels of the C8 Corvette have yet to come, you can bet that there will be future Vettes that has the same or more power than the CTS-V.
