2.8-Seconds to 0-60 MPH and so Much More
The most recent news about the C8 Corvette is the reviews that are now starting to trickle in from the buff books like Car and Driver and MotorTrend. The publications have had the 2020 Corvette Stingray for a while now and have had a chance to exploit the car to see just how impressive the machine truly is.
Well, while the new mid-engine car may disappoint some of the steadfast and stubborn front-engine fellas out there, there’s no denying that the new car is an impressive machine. Even if you hate that the engine now sits behind the seats, you can’t deny its prowess.
What the Number Say
The recent reviews confirm that the 2020 Corvette Stingray with the Z51 Performance Package can do a 2.8-second 0-60 mph time. For comparison that’s faster than the C7 Corvette ZR1. They also reveal that the quarter-mile time is wicked fast. MotorTrend marked it at 11.1-seconds at 123.2 mph, and Car and Driver clocked it at 11.2-seconds at 122 mph.
In terms of deceleration, the numbers are equally impressive. Car and Driver managed to get the vehicle to come to a stop in just 149 feet from 70 mph. MotorTrend did the quick stop from 60 mph in just 97 feet. The car pulls some good digits on the skidpad as well, with Car and Driver hitting 1.03 g and MotorTrend doing 1.04 g.
All of this comes from a vehicle that has a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine that makes 495 hp (with the Z51 Performance Package) and 470 lb-ft of torque in an age when many supercars are turning to electric and hybridized powertrains. And all of this starts at a price tag of only $60,000. The more we learn about the C8, the more it becomes clear that this truly is the best Corvette so far. We’re looking forward to what is to come with the higher trim levels.
