How Could You Argue?
The 2019 Corvette ZR1 is a 755 hp monster of a supercar. It’s the most beastly version of Chevrolet’s iconic Corvette ever, and it’s the end of an era for the vehicle. The front engine version of the Corvette is expected to end when the mid-engine C8 Corvette hits the road.
The C8 isn’t expected to come until 2020, though, and that means you should enjoy the ZR1 in 2019 should you have the money to do so. Recently, Motor Authority named the 2019 Corvette ZR1 as its Bes Car to Buy in 2019. I couldn’t agree with the publication more.
Here’s what my Midwest Automotive Media Association buddy Kirk Bell and said about the ZR1:
… the ZR1 isn’t the handful on a track we expected. Its limits are as high as the driver has talent, but it will also make any driver feel like a hero behind the wheel. The ZR1’s stability is in evidence in every turn. You can place it precisely, drive it hard at high speed, then switch direction without fear of the tires giving up grip.
That’s high praise, but not unexpected. The ZR1 is the most advanced version of the Corvette that Chevy has ever produced. While I’m certainly excited for the mid-engine model to debut, I’m also sad to see the front engine models go away. At least there will always be plenty of these well-loved cars on the used and collector car market.
