Dealer-to-Dealer Wholesale Market Report by CorvSport: C8 Corvette Stingray Edition

Without spoiling the ending, this is one exclusive CorvSport Wholesale Market Report you won't want to miss, as this week we tied a record for successful sales!

If you’re looking for actual dealer-to-dealer wholesale auction results, you’re in the right place! For over a year, CorvSport has been providing these exclusive wholesale market reports. We have archived all of them at the end of the report, but below, we have included some of the C8 dedicated ones that may be of interest to you, especially if you are shopping for a Stingray! [Author’s Note: This wholesale market report is FREE and not behind a paywall. Yes, FREE! If/when any pop-ups appear, please click to dismiss them and continue enjoying the report. One may require two steps–first, the arrow on the left, then the x on the top right.]

As teased in the opener, this week will be a fun one for you to join us! This wholesale activity is a positive sign, as these transactions tend to drive the used retail market. First, those C8 archives I promised.

CorvSport Wholesale Market Report: C8-Dedicated Archives

A Quick Review Of The Process:

In preparation for each installment, I start a list of Corvettes from that week’s runlist that catch my eye. As a retired owner/operator of a used car dealership, I’ll use my 17 years of experience (and industry access) to give you insights into the market. My search is focused on the nation’s largest dealer-only wholesale auction, and all the Corvettes featured are from the Florida market. Corvettes end up at a dealer-only wholesale auction for many reasons, but most are trade-ins that the dealer decided not to retail on their lot. Some may also be repossessions or coming off leases. It’s also common for dealers to dump problem (or slow-selling) units at an auction.

For Fun (and Insights):

Compare the MMR (estimated wholesale value) to the actual hammer price (if sold). It’s also interesting to compare the wholesale purchase price (if it sells) to the Cox Automotive estimated retail value, as this will give you an idea of the margins used-car dealerships are working with.

Summary: Wow! This is only the second time we’ve achieved a 100% sales ratio, and if you click on the archives below for that sale, you’ll notice it was a special antique/classic Corvette sale. Today, six of the seven Stingrays sold were from Texas Auto Value and GiveMeTheVin, with three each. Historically, they have shown to be aggressive sellers, and today was no exception. Thanks for joining CorvSport today, and we’ll see you in two weeks!
