1964 Corvette With Rare Factory Performance Options To Be Auctioned

This car’s factory equipment closely mirrors the Z06 package from the previous year

A rare 1964 Chevrolet Corvette convertible will be auctioned by Mecum Auctions in Houston on April 5. This Satin Silver example features a Dark Blue interior and is powered by a matching-numbers RF-suffix 327/375 HP V-8 engine paired with an M20 4-speed manual transmission and a 4.11 Positraction rear axle.

What makes this Corvette particularly special is its rare performance features. It is one of only 29 models from 1964 equipped with the J56 Special Sintered Metallic Brake Package, a high-performance braking system similar to the Z06 package from the previous year. Additionally, it features the F40 Special Front and Rear Suspension, a package installed on only 82 Corvettes that year. While the official Z06 package was unavailable for 1964, this car’s factory equipment closely mirrors that legendary performance specification.

It has been recognized with prestigious awards, including Bloomington Gold certification (2012) and NCRS Regional Top Flight honors (2006). Included with the sale are the original window sticker, Bloomington Gold judging sheets, NCRS ribbon and judging sheets, historical correspondence from Corvette expert Noland Adams, registration records dating back to 1989, an extra set of keys, three owner’s manuals, a 1964 Corvette brochure, and an AM/FM radio guide.
