AUCTION WATCH: These No-Reserve Corvettes Are Hammering Soon

Will the "Barrett-Jackson & Bright Lights" no-reserve effect help these BaT Corvette auctions reach top dollar?

Welcome to CorvSport’s No-Reserve Auction Watch, where we highlight listings that will hammer off to the highest bidder, no matter what! No-reserve auctions will typically generate extra buzz, and in collector car circles, Barrett-Jackson is the king of no-reserve “it’s going to sell” auctions, while Mecum is known for auctions with a mix of reserve and no-reserve. Personally, I would never sell anything without the ability to protect my bottom dollar and reject an offer I believe is too low. But kudos to the auction platforms that encourage no-reserve auctions. I know that in my 17 years of experience as a used car dealer, attending over 1800 auctions, once the bidder knows that the next bid could win that vehicle, it typically raises the price. We can usually chalk this up to ego, with one bidder fighting against another, knowing it will only take one more bid to bring that baby home. There’s definitely a psychology to it.

Just how rare are no-reserve auctions at Bring a Trailer? Well, currently, only 11% of their active listings are set up as no-reserve. Join in on the fun and watch these auctions along with us. Will the “no-reserve” dynamic hold true for these three Corvettes? Let’s dive in and find out!
