When I was a dealer, one of the more anxiety-inducing aspects of the used car industry was the timer that was always ticking. Even though my dealership rarely used floor plans (financing) to procure inventory, how many days a unit was sitting on the lot was always at the front of my mind—as it should be. Having money that was just sitting there and not generating revenue was frustrating, as was the upkeep that came along with holding on to a unit for too long.
