The Maserati MC20 Cielo and the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 belong to different worlds. The MC20 Cielo, an exotic Italian supercar, can cost close to $300,000. It offers a lavish interior and an elegant design that exudes exclusivity. On the other hand, the Corvette Z06, priced at roughly $120,000 when fully equipped, delivers world-class performance at a fraction of the cost.
In the latest episode of Edmunds U-Drags, two high-performance machines were tested: the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and the 2024 Maserati MC20 Cielo. The Maserati MC20 Cielo is an Italian supercar powered by a twin-turbocharged V6, delivering 621 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque. It rides on Bridgestone Potenza Sports tires and boasts an exquisite design with a luxurious, high-end interior.
On the other side, the Corvette Z06 is an American powerhouse with a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V8 pushing out 670 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It runs on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires and has earned a reputation as a budget-friendly giant killer in previous Edmunds U-Drags competitions.
The U-Drags competition begins with a quarter-mile sprint, followed by a hard braking zone and a 180-degree turn before the cars accelerate back to the starting line. Each car gets two runs, and drivers and lanes are swapped for fairness.
The final results confirmed the Corvette’s superiority. It reached 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds, completed the quarter-mile in 11.2 seconds at 128.3 mph, and achieved a maximum cornering G-force of 1.39 G. Its best lap time of 32.0 seconds at 141.5 mph secured its place as a true performance leader. Meanwhile, the Maserati MC20 Cielo finished with 32.9 seconds at 138.3 mph, placing it 15th on the U-Drags leaderboard. Want to see all the action? Watch the full race on Edmunds’ YouTube channel.
